Now that you know exactly how healthy peaches can be for you, you are probably wondering whether or not your guinea pig is going to be able to get the same number of vitamins and minerals when they eat them?  Here is what you should know before you even think about feeding your pet guinea pig any type of peach.

Are Peaches Good for Your Guinea Pig?

As mentioned previously, the answer to the question of whether or not guinea pigs are able to eat peaches is going to be yes, they can eat peaches.  With that being said, however, there are going to be some limitations on how much peach they should be eating.  When it comes to your guinea pig and peaches, it is going to be best to limit how much you give to them, as well as how often you give it to them.  But yes, it is ok for you to share some of that delicious peach with your pet guinea pig.

Are Peaches Considered to be Healthy for Guinea Pigs?

The answer to this question is going to be both, yes and no.  On one hand, peaches are going to be packed full of vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals that are going to be very good for your guinea pig to have.  Even though they should be getting most of the nutrients they need from the food that they are eating on a regular daily basis, it is not going to hurt them if you decide to supplement occasionally with that of some peach pieces as a special treat.

On the other hand, however, peaches are also going to contain a lot of sugar to go along with all of the vitamins, antioxidants and minerals.  What this means, is that it can potentially be bad for your pet guinea pig as their digestive system is not setup to have to deal with that much sugar.  This means that if you allow your guinea pig to have too many sweet treats, it can very easily lead them to having some type of complications that can include diabetes and obesity, both of which are going to end up leaving your guinea pig in a very unhealthy and uncomfortable lifestyle that will actually cause them to have a shorter life span as well.

Essentially, when it comes to your guinea pig eating peaches, be sure that you are absolutely positive that you stick to the right amount.  If you don’t, it can very easily cause your guinea pig to potentially have some serious problems with their health.

How Much Peach Should You Feed Your Guinea Pig?

Guinea pigs all over the world are praying that they are able to have the chance to eat peaches, as they simply love how they taste.  While peaches are going to be a great occasional treat for you to feed to them, you are going to need to make sure that you only give them the recommended quantities in order to avoid the potential health consequences that come along with them.  So how much peach should you feed to your guinea pig?

If your guinea pig is only a baby, they should not be eating any peaches at all.  But don’t worry.  They are not going to know what they are missing as they have never had the opportunity to try a peach before.  But after your guinea pig has grown up and become a full-grown adult, they can eat as much as 1 tablespoon of peach (which his roughly going to be about 1 thin slice of a freshly cut peach) at each serving.

As for how often you should be giving them this tasty treat, it should be no more than once every week or two at the very most.  Also, be sure that you are not giving your guinea pig this sweet treat on the same days that you are planning on giving them another type of sweet treat as well.
