Fish Cin (Clindamycin 150mg), 60 Capsules
Fish Cin is for use in aquariums and exerts a bactericidal action on gram positive and some gram negative bacteria. Useful for control of some common bacterial fish diseases.
Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis via inhibition of bacterial ribosome. It is primarily bacteriostatic, with spectrum of activity primarily against gram-positive bacteria and anaerobes.
Off-Label Use in Dogs & Cats: Clindamycin is primarily used for gram-positive infections involving the skin, respiratory tract, or oral cavity. Resistance with Staphylococcus may occur. It is effective for some oral infections and anaerobic infections. It also has been used for Mycoplasma infections. Clindamycin and concentrate in leukocytes and may tissues.
Fish: Add one capsule (150mg) into aquarium for each 10 gallons of water. Repeat in 24 hours. It is suggested that a partial water change be made between treatments. While treatment duration depends on the type and severity of infection, it is recommended that extended baths in the medication continue for a minimum of 5 days and for not more than 10 days. Discontinued treatment if no improvement is noted within 5 days.
Dogs and Cats: Fish Cin is commonly given in off-label use to small animals.
Anaerobic Infection
Dog: 11 mg/Kg (5 mg/lb) every 12 hours orally.
Cat: 11 mg/Kg (5 mg/lb) every 12 hours orally.
Staphylococcal Infections
Dog: 11 mg/Kg (5 mg/lb) every 12 hours, or 22 mg/Kg (10 mg/lb) every 24 hours.
Cat: 5.5 mg/Kg (2.5mg/lb) every 12 hours, or 11 mg/Kg (5 mg/lb) every 24 hours.
Toxoplasmosis
Dog: 12.5 mg/Kg (5.7 mg/lb) every 12 hours for 4 weeks.
Cat: 12.5 mg/Kg (5.7 mg/lb) every 12 hours for 4 weeks.
Do not administer to rabbits or rodents because it causes diarrhea. Do not administer to horses or ruminants because it could cause severe enteritis.
